Which products get a sheet

A product gets a sheet in this edition when Open Food Facts lists it as sold in the United States, its barcode is valid, it has a name and nutrition facts per 100 g, and at least three of the seven data blocks below are filled. Each barcode has exactly one sheet per edition.

In the United States edition, a product with no Open Food Facts record also gets a sheet when USDA FoodData Central lists it for the U.S. market and it has not been discontinued; the same thresholds apply. Its category is matched from the USDA food category: the Open Food Facts category shared by at least 80% of the products found in both sources. Additives, allergens and scores are not shown on these sheets, because they come from the Open Food Facts analysis.

The data blocks

  1. Identity: name, brand, quantity and photo or category
  2. Ingredients list
  3. Nutrition facts per 100 g
  4. Nutri-Score or NOVA group
  5. Allergens or traces
  6. Producer: identification mark or brand owner
  7. Green-Score

A block appears only when the source has data for it; nothing is estimated to fill a gap.

Calculated figures

Positions within a category (the share of products with less sugar, salt or saturated fat) and medians are calculated by Shelfpedia from the products of the same category sold in the country, and only for categories with at least 20 products. List pages show the medians and the Nutri-Score distribution of their products.

Names and languages

Category, additive, label, allergen and country names come from the Open Food Facts taxonomies in this language. A term with no name in this language is not shown and gets no list page. Ingredient lists appear exactly as written on the pack; when the source has them only in another language, the sheet says so instead of translating.

Recalls

A recall is attached to a product only when the official notice cites its barcode and shares at least one word of its name or brand. Notices that name a brand without a barcode appear only on the brand page, in the edition of the authority’s country. The reason category is our classification of the official reason, which is always shown in its original wording.

Updates

Product data: Open Food Facts export of October 23, 2026. Recalls, prices and the other sources are refreshed when their publishers update them; every block names its source and date.
